Job Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Coordinator to join our team at Bedrock Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Melbourne, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Create, update, and maintain patient medical records, ensuring they are complete and accurate. Ensure medical records are filed properly and are accessible when needed by authorized personnel. Organize both physical and electronic patient files according to standardized protocols. Conduct regular audits to ensure records are up-to-date and compliant with state and federal regulations. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations. Ensure all records are securely stored, with access limited to authorized personnel. Assist with audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews to ensure compliance with health record standards. Input patient information, medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Prepare and generate reports on patient data as needed for healthcare providers or administrative staff. Communicate with healthcare professionals to clarify information or resolve discrepancies in patient records.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certification in Health Information Management (HIM) preferred. At least 1 year of experience in medical records management, preferably in a long-term care or nursing home setting. Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office. Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail. Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare regulations, and privacy laws (HIPAA). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move file boxes as needed. Prolonged periods of sitting or standing in front of a computer.
Preferred:
