The Patient Financial Coordinator plays a crucial role in guiding patients through the financial aspects of their treatment. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to assisting patients with financial planning.
Primary Responsibilities:
Establish a welcoming and supportive environment for patients. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Engage with patients to understand their concerns and financial needs. Provide clear explanations of available treatment options and associated costs. Guide patients in exploring and selecting the best payment options for their treatment. Review physician recommendations and discuss the costs involved. Process payments prior to treatment initiation. Verify insurance details and explain coverage for services. Schedule financial consultations before treatment begins. Coordinate with the nursing team to confirm the start date for the treatment plan. Confirm financial clearance for each patient cycle and communicate updates to the nursing team. Monitor daily logs and ensure timely payment collection. Keep clear and organized patient notes in the system to ensure smooth communication and coordination. Submit prior authorization requests and track approvals. Notify management of any concerns related to patient payments. Keep billing and management teams informed of financial transactions. Respond to patient inquiries via phone or email within 24 hours. Assist in resolving billing questions and address any payment concerns.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Prior experience in coordinating patient care, handling medical billing, or verifying insurance is highly desirable. Highly skilled in handling multiple responsibilities efficiently, keeping precise records, and ensuring timely follow-ups for seamless workflow. Familiarity with EMR systems and prior authorization processes. Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively with medical staff/team.
