Position Summary:
Demonstrates expertise and knowledge in total joint procedures. Plans, directs and supervises the Total Joint program within the hospital environment. Collaborates with the medical staff and other disciplines in order to facilitate patient care. Ensures continuity between clinical practice and standards of care as well as promotes and aids in patient preparation for procedures progressing towards discharge. To work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and case managers and other healthcare disciplines utilizing a team approach. Knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring of, and compliance of all regulatory and licensing agencies including but not limited to JCAHO, OSHA, ACHA, CMS, etc. Maintains ongoing strong working relationships with internal and external organizations. Provides innovative solutions to problems while overcoming resistance to change. Ensures services delivered meet or exceeds market requirements and delights customers. Program Manager Total Joint Program Specific Duties Oversees the patient’s entire surgical event beginning at time of scheduling, pre-op process, surgery, post-opdischarge. Works closely with department heads including physical therapy, quality and case management. Rounds with surgeons Program Data collection and analysis Chairs monthly total joint performance meeting Works with quality department on regulatory guidelines and requirements for obtaining orthopedic certification.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
(including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience): Education – Holds healthcare license in appropriate field Current BLS Certification Experience in physicians practice or other clinical setting preferred Computer literate Excellent physical assessment and critical-thinking skills Positive affect, demonstrated leadership and time-management skills Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological condition Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, stressful environment
