Description
The senior transplant coordinator is the team leader of the transplant program and is responsible for collaborating with the healthcare team to develop theory-based patient care for patients undergoing organ transplantation from referral through post-transplant follow-up.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State
- Active RN license
- ABTC (American Board of Transplant Coordinator) certification required within 2 years of accepting position
Work Experience and Additional Information - 2 years critical care experience
Duties & Responsibilities - Collaborates with the health care team to develop theory-based patient care for those patients undergoing solid organ transplantation (heart, liver, lung, kidney, pancreas or multi-organ) from referral through long term post-transplant follow-up to ensure patient success
- Exercises independent judgment and advanced clinical skills to provide nursing care to these specified patient populations
- Assists & collaborates with management in maintaining statistical information for departmental productivity reports as well as to maintain cost-effective unit operations
- Assists the Director, AHC and Transplant Programs with interviews and makes recommendation for hiring new personnel, assigns work to and evaluates work performance of employees supervised to ensure high standard of care and skilled staff
- Coordinates training of other employees as evidenced by training logs, competency documentation records and staff education records
