Summary The JHF Assistant Director of Development occupies a pivotalposition within the Jackson Health Foundation. Tasked with managinga diverse donor portfolio, their primary objective is to secure andamplify contributions for the annual giving programs. They areadept at articulating the organization’s mission, maintainingrigorous documentation of donor interactions, and collaboratingwith internal teams to optimize philanthropic results. In addition,they serve as a community ambassador for the Foundation, fortifyingexisting relationships and forging new donor connections. Theincumbent may assist and act in a confidential capacity to helpmanage, formulate, determine and effectuate management process andpolices. The incumbent may attend management meetings and may beinvolved directly or indirectly in the decision making processaround confidential management decisions. Position requiresexercise of independent judgment. Responsibilities Manages a portfolio of 100 to 150 donors, aiming to securegifts of $10,000 and under. Crafts successful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardshipstrategies. Reaches out to potential donors and articulate the mission andvision of the organization to secure annual and renewablegifts. Adheres diligently to the Foundation’s moves management andreporting process on the cultivation and solicitation of donors,ensuring proper documentation of their progress. Effectively engages prospective donors and raises funds for thepriority projects of the Jackson Health Foundation and JacksonHealth System. Collaborates with colleagues including marketing, operationsand other development staff to develop donor-centered strategicplans that result in optimal philanthropic support. Documents donor interactions using Raiser’s Edge or equivalentCRM in a timely manner. Conducts timely and effective follow-up to identification,solicitation and cultivation efforts through multiple communicationchannels. Becomes an ambassador of Jackson Health Foundation in communityorganizations such as chambers and networking professionalgroups. Ensures continued engagement with assigned current donors andincreased support for the Foundation, working with medical staff,identify and cultivate new donors from grateful patients. Assesses the capacity of donors and prospective donors in orderto secure cash gifts and pledges. Becomes aware of planned giving vehicles and able to discuss aplanned gift where possible with donors. Strives to be a good colleague and contribute to the successfulcultivation of the best gift for the donor and for the Foundation,working cooperatively with all development officers on thestaff. Retains the flexibility to adjust work schedules, includingoccasional evenings and weekends.
Experience Generally requires 3-5 years of work experience, ideally infundraising, with a proven track record in gift solicitation. Prior experience in a hospital or academic medical centerenvironment is advantageous. Prior experience with Raiser’s Edge or equivalent CRM is highlypreferredEducation Bachelor’s degree is required.
Credentials Valid license or certification is required as needed, based onthe job or specialty.
