Description:
This position serves to assist patients and/or families to access a variety of financial resources by evaluating the financial situation of uninsured or underinsured cases. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a high-level of expertise in the Patient Financial Coordinator functions and serves as a liaison to maximize efficiency, the patient experience, and throughput. This incumbent will be responsible for meeting individual/departmental collection goals. Takes on the leadership role in the absence of the Manager/Supervisor. Serves as an expert to all staff across departments in determining patient financial responsibility, which includes collaboration with the scheduling, financial clearance, and authorization staff. This position demonstrates exemplary teamwork, service excellence and overall knowledge of the revenue cycle. Assist in supporting go lives and different departmental initiatives. Participate in departmental committees/champion opportunities. Practices the Baptist Heal philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members.

High School Diploma is required.
Additional Qualifications:
Associates Degree preferred with 4 years collection experience, or 5 years experience in lieu of degree. Complete and pass the Patient Access training course. Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment. Math and analytical skills. Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. CHAA Certification. Association of Community Cancer Center, Financial Advocacy Boot Camp Level I and II courses certification required within 3 months of hire, if applicable. Extensive knowledge and understanding of medical and insurance terminology, insurance contracts, authorizations/pre-certifications, UB-04 form, ICD-10, and CPT codes. Knowledge of regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA. Experience with computer applications and accurate typing skills. Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole.
