Medical Review Operations About the Role The Vice President of Medical Affairs is a strategic leader responsible for the overall direction, performance, and compliance of medical review operations . This executive will provide visionary leadership , enhance operational efficiency , and ensure high-quality medical review services . Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a long-term vision aligned with organizational goals. Conduct market analysis and competitor assessments to identify growth opportunities. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team. Operational Excellence Optimize operational efficiency through process improvements. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and measure success. Oversee budget development and financial management for the department. Clinical Oversight Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry standards . Conduct quality audits and reviews to enhance medical review processes. Collaborate with clinical experts to implement evidence-based policies. Team Leadership Recruit, develop, and retain top medical talent . Provide mentorship and coaching to medical directors and staff. Foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment . Client Relations Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients. Identify and implement customized solutions to meet client needs. Serve as a trusted advisor on medical review matters. Regulatory Compliance Stay updated on healthcare regulations and industry trends. Ensure full compliance with laws, regulations, and accreditation standards. Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize compliance risks. Qualifications MD or DO degree with board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine . Current and unrestricted medical license in the United States. 7+ years of Health Plan leadership experience in medical review or utilization management . 5+ years of clinical practice experience . Proven track record in operational efficiency and quality improvement . Strong financial acumen with budget management expertise . Excellent communication and relationship-building skills . Additional Information Approximately 20% of time will be spent on Utilization Management case production .
