Full Job Description Position Summary:
Orlando Hand Surgery Associates (OHSA), part of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) family, is seeking a Front Desk Representative / Patient Care Coordinator to serve as the welcoming face and essential point of contact for our patients. In this role, you’ll provide exceptional service, ensure a smooth patient check-in/check-out process, and support daily clinic operations with accuracy, empathy, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients by name, with a smile and in a professional manner daily. Input patients’ demographics including insurance cards and ID cards with every new patient. Check referrals and collect all copays and balances daily. Verify with each patient their present address, phone number, email, insurance, pharmacy, primary care doctor, allergy information and prescribed medications daily. Post copays, scan receipts, log all payments daily. Complete doctor’s dashboard(s) by end of day. Answer phones from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm utilizing designated script and document. Direct incoming calls to the correct departments as necessary utilizing the designated script. Check the general voicemail four times a day, document, and return calls daily. Answer all e-mails in the portal and call patients to schedule appointments daily within 24 hours. Print and verify charge slips for the doctors and add on appointments daily as needed or requested. Answer worker’s compensation incoming calls utilizing the designated script and document. Workers’ compensation voice mail retrieved @ 12 and 4 pm and calls returned and documented in the log by end of day. Answer medical records line, check voice mail @ 4 pm, and return messages by end of day with documentation. Answer emergency line 8: 30 to 5pm, return calls and document calls daily. Check faxes and assign to designated personnel hourly. Scan all labs, pathology and incoming mail daily. Check all charts for next day visits daily. Confirm all payments are processed and scanned for day of service. Print charge slips and assist in verifying insurance daily.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office or front desk setting preferred Knowledge of health insurance basics, co-pays, and authorizations is a plus Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills Ability to multi-task and remain calm in a busy clinical environment Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office preferred Reliable, punctual, and committed to patient-centered care
