Primary Responsibilities:

Interact courteously with internal and external customers in person and via telephone. Complete check-in and check-out tasks efficiently. Schedule appointments for new and existing patients. Verify insurance and complete pre-authorizations and/or precertifications for procedures. Answer back-line telephone calls, redirect calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed. Sort documents received via facsimile and distribute incoming postal mail. Scan all patients’ demographic paperwork to patient charts and assist with batch scan filing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Excellent CPT and ICD-9 coding skills. General knowledge of medical terminology. Tuberculosis screening and proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation of immunity, documented evidence of vaccination, or a doctor’s diagnosis of disease.

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ year of medical business office experience. Familiarity with medical billing and collection procedures. Experience with EMR computer applications.
