Position Summary:

The clinical nurse manager, in collaboration withthe Director, assists in managing the patient care unit foradministrative and clinical aspects to include organizing,developing, directing & assuring the delivery of cost-effective,quality patient care. Directs & oversees the process which ensuresthat the patient care is delivered in the accordance with theestablished hospital, State, Federal and Joint Commission,policies, procedures, regulations, ethics, and standards. Provideseducation to staff based on theoretical and clinical expertise.

Keeps accurate record of staff competencies. Assists Director withclinical policy review and revision. This position will havetwenty-four hour accountability to ensure clinical resource andcontinuity of patient care. This includes ensuring staffingaccording to the matrix on a daily basis. In the event that thereis a severe shortage on any shift, due to unforeseen needs, theclinical manager will assume a staff assignment as needed. Whendelivering patient care 1) provides high quality, safe, costeffective, total nursing care to all patients utilizing the nursingprocess 2) assumes the responsibility for overall coordination andintegration of patient care based on need of the patient and familymembers 3) directs care according to established standards ofsafety, risk management, infection control, with the goal being todischarge the patient with an optimum level of care provided 4)utilized evidence-based practice in accordance with professionalstandards and adheres to the Florida State Nurse Practice Act 5)reviewed orders/test results and documents care deliveredaccurately and timely in the electronic health record. Will beresponsible to oversee Administrative assistant in charging dutiesand payroll and to assume these duties in the absence of theAdministrative assistant. Assists in projects related to clinicalprocess improvement as assigned by Director.
