Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Pre-Cert/Referral/Surgery Scheduler position is responsible for pre certing procedures, coordinating and scheduling surgeries and processing incoming and out going referrals while maximizing patient satisfaction and utilization of Physician resources.
DUTIES:
Pre-certifies procedures being ordered by our Physicians either by telephone, fax or internet. Coordinate and schedule surgeries with the appropriate Hospital in person, by fax or on the phone while optimizing patients’ satisfaction and providers’ time. Receive incoming referrals by telephone, fax or secure portal and present them to the Physicians for their review and comments. Schedule the new patient appointments while optimizing patients’ satisfaction and providers time or notify the referring provider/individual that an appointment will not be offered. Process and follow up on outgoing referrals insuring completion of the referral process. Schedules patient post operative appointments accordingly and efficiently during the surgery scheduling process. Placing processed documents in their appropriate location be it EMR, electronic or traditional folders. Keeps open communication with billing team of orders for surgery patients.

HIPPA and OSHA compliance; promotes a safe work environment at all times Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicates effectively with the patient, medical staff, insurance companies and others as relates to the case Caring demeanor towards patients and co-workers Clinical knowledge and terminology Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time Working knowledge of computers, fax, copiers and other technology as needed Strong administrative/organizational skills with attention to details and accuracy Prior medical check in/out experiences a plus
