Job Details:

Mercer University is searching for a Director of Counseling Clinical Placements on the Atlanta campus.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Counseling and housed in the College of Professional Advancement on the Atlanta campus, the Director of Counseling Clinical Placements will develop and maintain partnerships with counseling practicum and internship sites, coordinate field experience placements between students and sites, work collaboratively with counseling program coordinators to develop and manage clinical placement policies and procedures in accordance with University, accreditation, and state licensing standards, work with counseling program coordinators to establish and develop new placement sites, assist students in securing internship placements, establish relationships with, communicate, and conduct seminars for clinical site supervisors, evaluate clinical sites and student experiences, and collaborate with faculty supervisors to maintain high-quality field/practicum and internship experiences. The Director will serve on all counseling program advisory boards. In addition, the Director serves as a liaison by coordinating and tracking placements and answering queries from students, program faculty, and staff regarding program services. This position also performs other duties related to ensuring counseling students’ highest-quality clinical experiences. This position will also be responsible for teaching one credit course per semester (three total) as assigned.

Qualifications:

A Doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited program in Counselor Education and Supervision is required, along with two years of relevant experience. Must have current LPC or CRC certification. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license as this position may require some travel to placement sites.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Understanding of CACREP standards related to clinical training in counseling programs; Knowledge of clinical practicum and internship requirements for licensed professional counselors and school counselors in the State of Georgia; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and efficiently; Familiarity with clinical placement software; Technical competence to maintain accurate records/databases/files, develop user-friendly reports, prepare and disseminate correspondence, and prepare forms and documents; Strong student-centered philosophy; Ability to travel to placement sites; Ability to demonstrate strong communication and management skills; Ability to understand relevant accreditation and licensing standards; Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with Watermark, LiveText, Supervision Assist, or other clinical management software.

ACS / CPCS

Evidence of leadership and administrative experience, preferably in counselor education. 4 or more years of clinical experience in professional counseling or related field. Experience in teaching and academic leadership, particularly in counselor education. Experience with clinical placement software and technology for tracking and reporting; specifically, familiarity with Supervision Assist or similar clinical management software.
