Work will include managing appointment access, financial analysis, process improvement and project management of clinical priority initiatives related project work, creation of business cases and SBARs, and general necessary departmental support. On a short-term basis, the business consultant helps departments achieve high-priority business objectives and outcomes, during times when meeting targets is unlikely with permanent staff. Position functions independently, but with reasonable guidance given the short-term nature of the role. The Business Consultant is deployed under the direction of the Executive Director of Clinical Operations and Strategy. Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions 1. Utilizing operations research, data analytics and performance monitoring tools, manages clinical department access to ensure high provider utilization as well as readily available appointment access for patients. Makes data-driven recommendations to chiefs and AMDs on provider allocations (sub-specialists, locations of practice, procedural vs clinic time). Works with designated Senior Director, Director, Physician Leaders and health plan stakeholders to identify projects for improved utilization of services and assess the associated ROI of these projects. Assist in the implementation of process improvement projects if ROI projected for department internalizations is not being realized. 2. Prepares for and facilitates Five Pillar meetings with Chiefs, Clinical Operations, and nursing leadership. Communicates and tracks action items. 3. Analyzes outside medical spend, develops business cases and SBARs, and presents and defends the cases, as per the determined KPGA process. Provides department assessments and proactively recommends projects and improvement initiatives to Director and other stakeholders to address issues and achieve documented outcomes. 4. Provides meeting facilitation to Clinical Operations, AMDs, and department chiefs in development of work initiatives. Is comfortable with presenting project ideas and recommendations. 5. Assesses reports. When adverse trends are observed, rapidly performs root-cause analysis and presents findings and recommendations to Clinical Operations, Chiefs, and physician leaders for remediation. 6. Partners with TSPMG reporting resources to obtain needed initiative and project reports for leadership review. 7. Partners with other Health Plan and Medical Group leaders and Administrators to ensure successful implementation of Care Model strategy projects and initiatives or operational efficiencies. Minimum Education Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or other similar bachelor’s degree Preferred Education Master of Business Administration, Master of Healthcare Administration, Master of Public Health, and/or other related master’s program. Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications Analytical skills utilizing Microsoft Office applications or similar, to analyze large volumes of information. Proficient with the use of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as strategic and systems thinking capability. Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and requests with firm deadlines . Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications Demonstrated success in project management and analytical skills. Ability to establish positive, professional relationships with senior leadership and management team members. Ability to work closely with physician leaders and use a consultative approach to make change within a highly matrixed organization. Proven track record of achieving objectives through motivating and leading teams from a position of influence. Work experience in large multi-specialty medical group business practices.
