Job Description

Health Service Administrator – Day Shift – Muscogee County Jail (Salary commensurate w/ experience) 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars 700 10th St, Columbus, GA 31901 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides direction and oversight of a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation within a correctional facility that aligns with FCH’s healthcare standards and institutional policies. Establishes quality measures and standards for continuous process improvement. Manages and analyzes financial and statistical data, identifying areas for improvement. Supervises subcontracted services (pharmacy, lab, x-ray, specialty providers). Maintains effective communication with facility administration, FCH staff, correctional personnel, contractors and external agencies. Manages staff recruitment, orientation, performance evaluations, and professional development. Conducts staff meetings to ensure consistent communication across all shifts. Oversees licensure, credentialing, and insurance coverage for all medical personnel. Monitors and optimizes healthcare utilization, including those with serious health conditions, requiring hospitalization and outside healthcare services promoting quality care and cost-effectiveness. Promotes quality improvement standards and ensures compliance with managed care principles. Serves as a liaison between professional organizations and seeks accreditation where applicable. Maintains confidentiality and security of health records and patient information. Participates in on-call responsibilities, attends relevant seminars, and travels as required. Reviews inadequacies with crisis intervention services and implement corrective steps as needed. May be required to arrange and/or participate in a system of 24-hour crisis intervention services. Communicates information to nursing staff, physicians, supervisory personnel or other staff as necessary. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. Performs other duties as assigned to support FCH’s goals, objectives and values. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Knowledge and familiarity with NCCHC, ACA, OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards. Knowledge and expertise in public health, and the diagnosis and treatment of individuals. Strong organizational, operational planning, and decision-making skills. Strong experience handling emergency response, compliance audits, and operational challenges in high-security environments. Strong ability to manage budgets, analyze contracts, managing complex staffing matrices between medical and mental health teams. Strong experience with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare management software. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced correctional healthcare environment. Strong interpersonal, analytical and decision-making skills. Maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with leadership, staff, patients, the public and external partners. Strong ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information. Possess strong judgment, discretion, high-level of flexibility and integrity. Ability to quickly assess medical emergencies and implement appropriate interventions effectively and calmly. Strong attention to detail, follow-up and timely completion of assigned tasks. Excellent communication skills with proven experience leading, managing, and coaching medical staff through complex human resources issues and challenges. Minimum Education and/or Experience Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Three (3) or more years of well-developed administrative, clinical, and progressive management experience related to comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional healthcare or acute care setting OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Required Certifications and Licenses Must have and maintain current RN or NP licensure within the State of Georgia Must have and maintain a current BLS Certification Preferred Qualifications Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP)

Physical Requirements:

The position requires the ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds with prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting at a desk, viewing a computer and reading a variety of materials. Must be able to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with your hands. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks, such as typing for extended periods of time.
