Overview:

Principal Healthcare Solutions has been exclusively retained to recruit a highly qualified Laboratory Director for a well-respected, 300+ bed acute care medical center in Louisiana. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic leader in laboratory science to join an established hospital and make a lasting impact on patient care and departmental performance. This opportunity will be replacing a retiring Director that has been with the organization for many years, allowing someone to bring in a fresh approach to leadership for the department. The laboratory conducts nearly 1,000,000 tests annually. •Potential $15,000 sign on bonus plus additional relocation assistance.

Position Summary:

The Director of Laboratory Services will oversee the strategic and operational management of the hospital’s laboratory department, including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality diagnostic services, regulatory compliance, and alignment with hospital goals. The Director will provide guidance and supervision to staff while fostering a culture of excellence, ethics, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and manage all laboratory operations and personnel with a staff of 80 employees, including the laboratory manager and multiple supervisors Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards Develop and implement departmental policies and quality assurance programs Collaborate with clinical leadership to support patient care initiatives Manage budgets, staffing, and departmental goals Promote a positive work environment and professional development

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field (chemical, physical, or biological science) Current state license as a Medical Technologist Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) credentials Previous supervisory or management experience in a hospital laboratory setting This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking medical center committed to delivering high-quality care and continuous improvement.
