QUALIFICATIONS 1.

Must have at a minimum: 3 years of inpatient behavioral health experience. Supervisory experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in Basic Life Support required.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1.

The MHT Coordinator compliments the Director of Nursing in providing leadership in the 24-hour nursing care delivery system and overseeing the milieu programming of the hospital. 2. Assures that the direct patient care provided remains compatible and reflects the established regulations and rules for psychiatric-mental health service provision. 3. Responsible for the scheduling of CNA’s and/or Mental Health Technicians (MHT). 4. Responsible for assisting the Clinical Educator in the implementation of a high-quality training and orientation program for the hospital MHT/CNA staff. 5. Assists the DON in assuring staffing guidelines are achieved in the provision of direct care services to meet patient needs. 6. Serves to assist the DON as the liaison between the direct care staff and nursing staff of the hospital, during assigned shift. 7. Assist with departmental Performance Improvement contributions to problem identification, investigation, actions and monitoring of resolutions in effecting patient care and customer satisfaction systems as directed by the DON. 8. Participates in the implementation of the Plan of Care in coordination with other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team. 9. Facilitates appropriate action(s) in response to administrative directives and a changing healthcare environment. 10. Provides input into the annual performance evaluations of Certified Nursing Assistants and/or Mental Health Technicians. 11. Participates, as directed by the DON, in the screening and interviewing of qualified MHT/CNA applicants. 12. Assists the DON and/or facility Clinical Educator in the establishment of initial competencies for new MHT staff. 13. Assures that MHT staff accurately documents patient belongings on all new patients admitted. 14. Assures that MHT staff adhere to established protocols on all new patients admitted. 15. Assures MHT staff facilitates daily community and wrap-up groups as ordered by the physician and that groups are properly documented in the patient’s medical record. 16. Assures that MHT staff ensures a safe environment of care by thoroughly conducting daily EOC rounds. 17. Assures MHT staff completes timely and accurate patient observations as ordered by the physician. 18. Performs other duties and special projects as directed.
