Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together. Optum isseeking a Float Patient Service Specialist (InternalMedicine/Family Practice) to join our growing team. At Optum, weare transforming healthcare nationally while providingphysician-led care locally. Schedule (38.75 hours): Monday-Friday,between the hours of 8:30 am to 5:00pm or 8:00am to 4:30pm EST. Theschedule will be determined upon hire by supervisor.
Location:
Thisrole will require travel between the Shrewsbury, Southborough,Westborough, Framingham, and Milford Reliant Medical Grouplocations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Comfortable working in afloat role which requires travel to multiple locations and theability to adapt, multitask, and work independently
- Obtainaccurate and updated patient information, such as name, address,insurance information
- Perform insurance verification on the dateof service & obtain patient signatures for required documents
- Upload a valid Government issued state ID of patient and patientinsurance cards
- File and maintain medical records
- Consistentlycorrect registration work queue errors
- Confirm and scheduleappointments
- Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously
- Perform referral documentation promptly
- Work daily in the claimsedit work queue to correct registration errors for submission toinsurance companies
- Perform certain follow-up services forpatients in a prompt and courteous manner, such as schedulingspecialist appointments, scheduling follow-up appointments andobtaining copies lab results or specialist reports
- Adhere to thestandards identified via Sparq regarding Optum Employee Policies
- Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve specific teamgoals
- Keep abreast on current medical requirements relevant totheir position, which includes maintaining patient confidentialityand abiding by all HIPAA and OSHA requirements
- Participate inplanning, coordinating, and implementing care in conjunction withthe multidisciplinary team in accordance with the Plan of Care
- Assure the continuity of care through scheduling and trackingsystems
- Provide effective communication to patient / family teammembers and other health care professionals as evidenced bydocumentation, case conferences, communication notes, andevaluations
- Notify clinical staff of schedule changes as theyoccur
- Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality ofcare
- Demonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documentsand monitoring the fax server, retrieving and / or scanningdocuments and assigning to the appropriate electronic chart
- Participate in orientation (scheduling segment) of new fieldemployees and distribute updates and changes as needed
- Organizeand maintains medical records
- All employees are expected to keepabreast on current medical requirements relevant to their position,which includes maintaining patient confidentiality and abiding byall HIPPA and OSHA requirements
- Complete new clinicalcompetencies rolled out by the Educational Committee

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher
- 1 years of healthcare and/or front desk administrative experience
- Access to reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1years of experience working in a medical front office positionperforming duties such as scheduling appointments, checkingpatients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, andmaintaining medical records
- Experience working in a fast-pacedenvironment
- Intermediate level of computer proficiency includingthe use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and multiple web applications
- Knowledge of Epic EMR software
- Ability to work independently,adapt, & multitask
Soft Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to work wellwith health care providers
- Ability to work independently andmaintain good judgment and accountability
- Ability to multi-taskand prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines

The sign-on bonus is only available to externalcandidates. The salary range for this role is $16.88to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment.
