JOB SUMMARY:
The Membership and Health & Wellness Director administers and supervises all health, wellness, and membership-related operations of the Branch including group exercise, personal training, youth fitness, pre-member interviews/tours/sales, new member matriculation and follow up with a goal of growing membership and positively impacting retention. S/He will accept and display the character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
JOB FUNCTIONS
PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT
RESPSONSIBILITIES
Oversee the branch Fitness & Membership departments and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality and service at all times Implement and supervise all membership and fitness/wellness programs and collaborations ensuring the highest quality and adherence to YMCA standards; determine department procedures and workflow Spearhead a seamless matriculation of new members into the facility including the scheduling and conducting of interviews/tours, new member orientations, member follow up, etc. Offer leadership within department with software systems like Spirit and Motionvibe Ensure that each new member is going through a Get Started appointment for successful member onboarding Provide leadership in the development and implementation of Branch Special Events (i.e. Spin-a-thon, Golf Tournament, Open Houses, etc.) Provide leadership and direction in the development of wellness and membership plans; coordinate department activities with other departments and agencies as needed Develop new wellness programs and membership initiatives to meet the needs of the membership and the community Develop family programs as a benefit of membership to increase family units Build an outreach program to the Taunton community to increase membership revenue and units Provide on-going in-service training of Membership/Welcome Center staff to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality, and in-service training of wellness staff. Ensure clear, concise and consistent information is communicated to members and staff Hire, train, and ensure quality of staff for child watch/ kid zone
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, supervising, recognizing and reviewing of Group Fitness, personal training, fitness staff and Welcome center representatives. Oversee a group fitness coordinator, membership coordinator, and fitness coordinator with weekly meetings, goal setting, and holding coordinators accountable for their role.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assume primary responsibility in creating and achieving fitness and membership department/branch budgets and ensuring prudent expenditures and cost control procedures in accordance with branch procedures and policies.
FACILITY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures working systems are in place for preventative maintenance and repair of fitness equipment proper cleaning/maintenance of all fitness equipment; ensure the proper working order of all equipment within the facility Assume primary responsibility for proper upkeep of the Welcome Center and lobby areas Systems at the WC are maintained and staff are held accountable
INTERDIVISIONAL/COMMUNITY/VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES
Play an active and successful role in the Association Annual Campaign and assist as requested in achieving branch and Association goals. Organize at least one volunteer subcommittee to drive branch/board of governor priorities Participate, as requested, in Association and branch committees, cabinets and Affinity groups

Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(Minimum Required): Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s desirable At least 3 years of supervisory experience preferred CPR/AED certifications required Ability to work and thrive as part of a cohesive team Strong interpersonal, customer services and networking skills necessary Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities Excellent written communication skills and proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs
