New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking a full time, Monday-Friday Medical Secretary/Scheduler, internally know as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC), to work in our Kennebunk Clinic. The PCC serves as the face to face/over the phone daily contact for patients in regards to the scheduling of appointments, booking of scans, labs, and procedures as needed. The PCC along with a physician, NP/PA, Nurse Navigator, Prior-Authorizations Specialist, and Medical Assistant form a team that covers all aspects of patient care. Duties include maintaining the physician’s appointment schedule, completing all non-clinical orders, managing and resolving appointment conflicts proactively, answering multi-line phone, triage calls, resolves issues and answers questions, takes detailed messages, redirects calls to the appropriate person, maintains confidentiality, meets deadlines, multi-tasks, problem solves, and assists patients to ensure they have a positive and professional experience at all times. NECS is a private medical practice composed of 18 oncologists and hematologists serving the state and region from 5 different locations in Maine and New Hampshire. Job Duties:
+ Schedules appointments for patients by phone or in person. Works within the electronic medical record ensuring all appointments are scheduled to match physician/clinician availability with patient preferences. + Follows all urgent/emergency protocols. + Completes all non-clinical orders entered in patient charts by providers. + Communicated clearly and professionally to patients and staff. Accurately communicates all necessary instructions for upcoming appointments, scans or procedures to patients. + Returns all phone calls by the end of the same business day. + Communicates consistently and frequently with provider team(s) any changes to or effecting patient care plans to ensure the best possible care for every patient. + Actively participates in weekly team meetings. + Maintains provider calendar, ensuring all changes are reflected in the EMR clinic schedules. + Scans records into the EMR as needed + Maintains a pleasant, professional demeanor at all times with patients and coworkers. + Others duties as assigned by Office Manager.

+ High school diploma or GED required. + Minimum 1 year experience in complex medical scheduling. + Minimum one year clerical and/or Medical Secretary experience in a health care field, oncology experience preferred. + Knowledge and application of medical terminology required. + Previous experience with electronic medical record systems required. + Exceptional customer service experience required.
