Oceans Healthcare of Jackson, a 77-bed facility will expand inpatient capacity for adult and senior behavioral health patients and add new services, including an intensive outpatient program. The freestanding hospital will be located on the St. Dominic’s campus.

This position coordinates with the DON and the inpatient clinical director to identify staffing issues and pertinent nursing care issues to ensure appropriate daily operations of the outpatient programs. The Director, Outpatient Services shall assure the outpatient program is adequately staffed and that programming meets the standards set in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans’ Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards.
Essential Functions:
Provides direction, supervision, monitoring and disciplinary action for all staff of the Outpatient Program. Cooperates and works with all members of the management team to develop, formulate, implement, and revise clinical programming proposals for recommendations to medical and professional staff and to adhere to regulatory body standards and meet facility goals and objectives. Provides, coordinates and monitors in-service opportunities for staff continuing education. Supervises utilization review and performance improvement in the outpatient setting. Provides/coordinates education to staff and monitoring for compliance plan, and specific age/disability/cultural sensitivity and diversity adherence, as well as demonstrates an ability to assess and interpret age/disability specific information and patient population response to treatment. Conducts treatment planning, discharge planning and facilitates support groups to meet the needs of patients and families. Works closely with the facility administrator to achieve the programs financial goals in regard to expense management and revenue production, as well as maintain overall administrative and committee structure. Provides and solicits customers, departments, and facility information orally and in writing on overall facility performance. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Experience Requirements:
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling preferred including LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, MSW, Psychologist, RN or LVN/LPN. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in inpatient/outpatient psychiatric treatment preferred with at least 1 year of supervisory experience. At least 1 year of experience working with chronically mentally ill, adult and geriatric patient populations. Qualifications /

Good writing and composition skills. Able to organize and prioritize high volume workload. Able to function with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain overall good work attitude and interact cooperatively and professionally with other staff members. Possess basic competency in age, disability, and cultural diversity needs of patients served and ability to relate to patients in a manner sensitive to those needs. Communicates in an age/disability related manner to patients and patients’ families. Must successfully complete BLS certification and an Oceans approved behavioral de-escalation program.
Work Environment:
Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. This person might sometimes experience disagreeable odors, sights and/or unpredictable patient behavior. Work requires spending approximately 85% or more of the time inside a building, which offers protection.
