Job Summary The Biologics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring patients receive timely access to biologic and specialty medications by initiating prior authorizations, managing medication orders and coordinating patient support while working closely with the patient, physician, pharmaceutical representatives, and designated third party vendors. Responsibilities
- Coordinates with third party vendors to submit clinical notes and other required paperwork to support the authorization approval and or/appeal process.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for patients regarding biologics and/or other specialty pharmacy medication authorizations.
- Assist patients with enrollment in support programs, financial assistance, and specialty pharmacy services for biologics and/or other medications.
- Review and track the status of ordered medications, refills, inquiries and shipments to ensure timely access.
- Documents all patient information accurately and appropriately in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate status updates to providers and clinical teams regarding authorizations, denials or delays.
- Respond to inquiries from pharmacies, insurance companies, third party vendors in a timely manner.
- Continue to monitor and educate team with up-to-date information as available. Requirements
- Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, critically think and assess situations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel between locations as necessary. Education and Experience Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Certification as a clinical assistant as CMA, RMA, CCMA, CDT or equivalent.
- One year of biologic authorization experience preferred.
