ACCEPTING RESUMES UNTIL JUNE 15. GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Healthy Living Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Health and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for staffing of the fitness center and group exercise schedules, ensuring safety and cleanliness of the fitness areas, overseeing fitness orientations, incentive programs and maintenance of the equipment in the fitness center. Will also provide leadership over the group exercise department.

KNOW HOW

Incumbent must pass YMCA background checks and successfully complete and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to acquire them within 30 days of employment. BA/BS degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in fitness field and customer service. A nationally accredited certification in personal training preferred or ability to earn. Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must be attentive to details, be able to work with and meet deadlines, take initiative to develop and provide information and controls necessary for efficient office operations. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have excellent human relation skills and member service skills. Must be able to take initiative in making decisions and solving problems in the areas of assigned responsibilities. Ability to represent the YMCA in a responsible and professional manner. Ability to work efficiently, independently, and as part of a team. Display a personal commitment to consistent quality customer service.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

Responsible for working with personal training clients and guiding the personal training program. Oversight of fitness center staffing schedules, maintain service standard, cleanliness and equipment maintenance. Oversee fitness orientation schedules. Oversee health and wellness programs for the branch including collaborations. Provide information needed for quarterly newsletters to the City of Kannapolis. Managing the group exercise calendar and inputting into Y360 promptly. Work with Membership Director on membership campaigns specifically related to fitness engagement. Assist with departmental service evaluations. Promote YMCA facilities, programs, and events. Enforce fitness center policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities and other duties & activities as assigned by supervisor or Leadership staff. Participate in annual campaign and branch special events.
