Patient Access Coordinator Status:
Non-Exempt/Hourly/Full-time Description A Patient Access Coordinator is responsible for retrieving and scheduling radiology exams for patients. Answering and routing incoming calls and faxes from patients and referring physician practices in a timely manner is a priority of a Patient Access Coordinator. Duties and Responsibilities Facilitate the patient experience by communicating insurance benefits and patient financial responsibility while complying with all HIPAA regulations. Scheduling and providing explanations of radiology procedures to patients. Utilize AIDET Principles in all patient and provider encounters. Professionally and efficiently answering and routing phone calls in a high-volume call center environment. Routing incoming electronic faxes and accurately exporting them to the electronic medical record system. Perform scheduling duties including processing incoming radiology orders, entering patient demographics, screening patients for safety and explaining exam preparation or appointment details. Document the patient’s exam through data entry, report retrieval, scanning and recording the exam details in the electronic medical record system. Monitor referral status by reviewing unscheduled work lists and following up appropriately. Perform computer operations including email, a fax server program, electronic medical record, and revenue collection system. Utilize phone, fax, copier and scanner. Maintain professional and technical knowledge of medical terminology and radiology protocols.
Qualifications Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Medical Office experience preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge:
Consistently model AIDET principles, service excellence and service recovery. Consistently demonstrate commitment to safe practices while abiding by all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
Skills:
Intermediate computer skills such as Email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Electronic Medical Record System, Fax Server Software. Effective, professional, diplomatic communication skills are required.
