Compensation:

$40,000-$45,000 Annually Position Summary The Hospital Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of hospital operations, including patient care, rehabilitation facilities and grounds, and the hospital staff. This role ensures the effective management of wildlife patients throughout their rehabilitation process including intake, triage, medical treatments, husbandry, diagnostics, flight conditioning, and final dispositions. The Hospital Manager maintains accurate medical records and reports, manages medical supply inventory and ordering, and supports contract veterinarians by assisting with procedures and updating medical protocols as needed. In addition to managing hospital staff, the Hospital Manager supervises volunteers and interns assigned to the hospital. The role also includes representing the hospital through presentations and tours, and contributing to organizational planning by participating in events and serving on cross-departmental committees as a member of the management team Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of avian patient care from admission through release
Supervise hospital staff, interns, and volunteers; lead shift operations
Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all hospital and animal care areas
Ensure accurate documentation of patient medical and husbandry records using patient data software (RaptorMed)
Manage communications with contract veterinarians, including scheduling, treatments, necropsies, and diagnostics
Order and manage inventory for medical supplies and raptor food
Monitor and promote animal welfare
Assist with avian ambassador wellness checks in coordination with other departments
Train and mentor staff, interns, and volunteers in medical and husbandry procedures
Deliver on-site and virtual trainings, workshops, and professional development programs
Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to oversee onboarding, scheduling, and training for Rescue and Rehab Volunteer Programs
Participate in cross-departmental committees, planning efforts, and public engagement as needed Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Wildlife Science, or a related field
Three (3) or more years of experience in wildlife rehabilitation or veterinary medicine
Prior experience supervising staff, interns, or volunteers
Ability to lead teams and communicate expectations clearly and respectfully
Proficient in animal care diagnostics, husbandry, and medical procedures
Familiarity with biosecurity protocols and wildlife handling
Proficient with Microsoft Office and have the ability to learn CRC’s RaptorMed software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends Preferred Qualifications Experience specifically with avian or raptor species
Knowledge of state and federal wildlife regulations
Experience developing and delivering training for volunteers or staff
Knowledge of new advances in the wildlife rehabilitation field
Experience preforming medical treatments on animals including fluid administration, injections, phlebotomy, fracture stabilization, physical examinations, etc.
Public speaking experience or comfort giving tours/presentations Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods
Ability to stand for 6-8 hours per day
Must be able to lift and restrain birds up to 25 pounds
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and use of hands and arms
Normal vision (including color vision), hearing, and manual dexterity required Work Environment This role involves exposure to the following conditions: Sick or injured birds, deceased animals
Hazardous and caustic materials (e.g., cleaning chemicals, anesthetics)
Zoonotic diseases and unpleasant odors
X-rays and related radiation exposure
High noise levels, sharps/needles, and moving mechanical parts
Outdoor environments including extreme heat, cold, humidity, and precipitation
