Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Pharmacy Technician to join our team with a key focus on prescription refill coordination, prior authorization follow-up, and direct patient communication. This role is essential in ensuring medication continuity, minimizing delays, and enhancing the overall patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Initiate and follow up on prescription refill requests with prescribers’ offices Communicate with insurance providers to obtain and manage prior authorizations Call patients to confirm prescription details, relay status updates, and handle medication-related inquiries Document all communications and follow-up actions accurately in the pharmacy system Collaborate with pharmacists and other technicians to resolve medication access issues Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards during all communications Provide friendly, professional support to patients while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy
Qualifications:
Active Pharmacy Technician license/certification as required by state regulations Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience, preferably in a retail or specialty setting Strong phone communication skills with a calm, empathetic tone Familiarity with prior authorization processes and pharmacy benefit plans Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and basic computer software (e.g., Word, Excel) Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-volume environment Customer-first mindset with a commitment to timely follow-through
Preferred Skills:
Experience with electronic prior authorization platforms (CoverMyMeds, Surescripts, etc.) Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) a plus
