Requirements:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Member & Community Engagement Deliver exceptional service and build positive relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and guests. Communicate clearly and positively, using Listen First skills and inclusive practices. Promote the YMCA’s mission through active presence, community outreach, and presentations. Program Development & Oversight Develop, implement, and evaluate wellness programs—including youth, adult, sports-specific, and corporate initiatives—both on- and off-site. Ensure programs meet high standards of quality, safety, and alignment with the Y’s focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Lead 10 hours of hands-on programming weekly. Team Leadership & Supervision Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and schedule staff and volunteers. Conduct performance evaluations and lead regular team meetings to promote retention, motivation, and cause-driven culture. Step in to lead classes or shifts when needed. Administrative & Operational Management Develop and manage department budget; monitor payroll and approve as required. Maintain compliance with YMCA policies, HR, and finance procedures. Collaborate with Facilities Director on equipment maintenance and cleanliness. Assist with marketing efforts and ensure consistent cause-driven messaging across platforms. Strategic Initiatives & Development Actively participate in management meetings, committees, and the annual fundraising campaign. Build a culture of philanthropy by developing Y ambassadors and sharing the impact of programs. Foster partnerships with community organizations, support internship opportunities, and explore additional event/race initiatives. Professional Development & Collaboration Maintain knowledge of YMCA competencies through continued learning and engagement. Collaborate with other Y departments and external partners. Uphold and model the YMCA’s core values: Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect. Other Duties Assist with special events and support Member Engagement initiatives as needed. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree required in exercise sports science or a related field or 4 years equivalent experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills Interpersonal & coaching skills Supervisory Experience a plus CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
