Medical Billing and Coding Manager Confidential Jacksonville, NC 28546 Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services, which directly impacts the financial health of our practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes to facilitate efficient operations within our medical office. Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) preferred. Responsibilities Review and analyze patient records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG systems. Process medical billing claims in accordance with established guidelines to ensure timely reimbursement. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding practices and regulations to ensure compliance with healthcare laws. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or coding information. Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and resolving billing issues with insurance companies. Utilize various medical billing systems to input data accurately and efficiently. Provide support in training new staff on medical coding practices and billing procedures as needed. Skills Proficiency in medical coding systems, including ICD-10 and ICD-9. Strong understanding of DRG methodologies and their application in medical billing. Familiarity with medical terminology and its relevance in coding accuracy. Experience in medical billing processes within a healthcare setting. Knowledge of medical collection practices and effective communication skills for resolving billing inquiries. Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
