Department of Nursing – 273300MinimumQualifications Graduation from an accredited four-year college or universitywith a major in healthcare, nursing, or other health-related fieldis required. Computer science and information technology applicantsmay be considered with documented health-related experience. A minimum of two calendar years or the equivalent of experiencein healthcare simulation. Excellent clinical and communication skills.

PreferredQualifications Master’s degree or higher in education, instructionaltechnology, nursing, or related field preferred. Priorpost-secondary teaching, counseling, or advising experience ispreferred. Preparation in teaching and learning principles for adulteducation, student academic success coaching and evaluation and/orstudent mentoring. Clinical expertise or education in multiple clinical areas ispreferred, must have a strong medical/surgical background. National certification(s) in healthcare simulation, such asCSHE (Certified Simulation Health Educator) or CHSOS (CertifiedHealth Simulation Operations Specialist).Essential Duties andResponsibilitiesWith approximately 560 enrolled students, theDepartment of Nursing prepares nurse leaders and providers toadvance the nursing profession through education, scholarship, andpractice in service to the community. Programs include thepre-licensure BSN, the online RN to BSN, and the online MSN with aconcentration in nursing education. All programs are fullyaccredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(CCNE). The Department is in the process of developing a new DNPFamily Nurse Practitioner program to begin in fall of 2026.

Keyresponsibilities include:
Developing Simulation Programs:

The provision of simulatedpatient care across a variety of healthcare settings and specialtyevent types is foundational to clinical learning. Creatingrealistic healthcare simulation scenarios for training purposes forindividuals across the lifespan that include both routine andhigh-risk, low-occurrence events.

Curriculum Design:

Collaborating with academic andinstructional teams to design and implement learning activitiesthat leverage innovative learning tools and techniques.

Technology Integration:

Identifying and integrating emergingtechnologies that enhance learning outcomes, such as virtualreality, augmented reality, or artificial intelligence in clinicalnursing education.

Faculty and Staff Training:

Providing guidance and training forfaculty and staff to effectively use simulation tools andtechnology in their teaching.

Assessment and Improvement:

Evaluating the effectiveness oflearning programs and simulations, making data-driven decisions tocontinuously improve educational offerings.

Collaboration:

Working closely with other departments, externalpartners, or industry experts to stay current with trends and bestpractices in simulation and innovative learning. Contributing to

Team Success:

Engage actively with fellow staffmembers of the nursing Simulation Lab, sharing knowledge andexpertise to promote student success and support the ongoingimprovement of learning technologies. Overseeing the maintenance, calibration, and repair ofsimulation equipment, ensuring all systems and technologies arefully functional and up to date. This includes coordinating routineinspections, troubleshooting technical issues, and managingrelationships with vendors for repairs or upgrades.
