Job Description

Overview Provides expert education and consultation for respiratory staff, nursing staff, physicians, patients and families regarding respiratory care. Focus will be in either Adult Critical Care or Pediatrics and Neonatal Critical Care. Responsibilities Functions as an expert clinician/practitioner for critically ill patients who require respiratory care support. Facilitates ongoing educational initiatives including orientation, preceptor education and other unit level and organizational learning initiatives. Facilitates accountability and consistency in the application of respiratory care. Provides consultations for various health care teams regarding the application of respiratory care. Develops, evaluates, and modifies respiratory care policies, procedures, and protocols. Participates in Quality Improvement Process in their area of expertise. Facilitates continuing education and orientation of respiratory care practitioners, nursing, nurse practitioners, and physician staff in the management and provision of respiratory care to patient populations. Supports and participates in research activities. Identifies appropriate opportunities for improvement and facilitates changes. Assists the department manager in determining personnel resources to meet patient care requirements. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in related field, with 3 years of experience and clinical competency in either adult or Pediatric/Neonatal respiratory care required. Demonstrated experience in education preferred. Required Licensure/Certifications Registered Respiratory Therapist Licensed to practice Respiratory Care in NH ACLS, PALS, NRP, BLS
