ROLE OVERVIEW

The On-Site InsuranceVerification Specialist is responsible for accurately verifyingpatients’ medical and dental insurance benefits and eligibilityprior to their appointments and investigating any missinginformation that prohibits verification. This role plays a criticalpart in ensuring a seamless billing process and positive patientexperience by identifying coverage, obtaining authorizationsrequirements, and communicating clearly with both insurancecarriers and patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with third partyinsurance verification company to ensure patient insurance isverified in a timely manner.
  • Serve as liaison between insuranceproviders, staff, and patients regarding eligibility, payments,approvals, etc.
  • Work with various insurance companies to navigatetheir processes in an effort to achieve consistent outcomes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while interacting with staff,insurance providers, and patients over the phone, in person and viaelectronic communication.
  • Communicate with patients, over thephone or in person, to help them understand the cost associatedwith treatment.
  • Updating and maintaining patient insuranceinformation within OMSVision.
  • Adhere to deadlines and prioritizework against the patient schedule.
  • Other related duties asassigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma orequivalent required
  • Associate’s degree or vocational schooltraining preferred
  • Knowledge of medical and dental terminologyand insurance benefits
  • At least one year of prior experience inDental Office workflows and Revenue Cycle functions to includeScheduling, Registration, Insurance verification, fee schedules,claim submission, charging/coding requirements, insurance AR followup and payment posting process
  • In-depth knowledge of
CDT, CPT,AND ICD-10

coding systems.

  • Ability to stay updated on changes incoding guidelines and reimbursement policies.
  • Experience withdental practice management software, insurance portals, clearinghouses, insurance guidelines, and MS Office (experience withMicrosoft excel)
  • Excellent math and data entry skills
  • Stronginterpersonal and organizational skills to work within a teamsetting and as an individual contributor
  • Excellent oral andwritten communication skills
  • Problem-solving andcritical-thinking abilities
