PURPOSE OF POSITION
- Work as a liaison between the NYC Health + Hospitals/ Lincoln’s Risk Management and clinical/non-clinical departments, and NYC H+H Office of Legal Affairs Medical Ligation Unit, contracted law offices, Bronx County District Attorney Office, in processing discovery motion request.
- Under the direction of the Risk Management (RM) Director, serves as a facilitator in processing all discovery/motion requests related to Notice of Claims, Summonses and Subpoenas.
- To serve as a facilitator, coordinator for clinical data-gathering and analysis medium for operational activities relating to the administration and manage of quality and risk management.
To work collaboratively with the clinical departments and other staff to ensure hospital QA clinical activity compliance with regulatory requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Compiles and/or type the Risk Management/Psychiatry cases and assists with revisions in preparation for Root Cause Analysis meetings, Case Review meetings, Risk Management Committee meetings, as well as for Board Report submission to NYC H+H Board of Directors.
2.Schedule root cause analysis, case reviews and huddle meetings
3.Maintain RCA case log.
4.Coordinate and/or generate facility monthly/quarterly reports for submission to committees.
5.Satisfy all requests from Comptroller’s Office regarding loss/damage property claims.
6.Prepare and arrange the Claim’s Management Meetings
7.Takes the initiative when interacting with hospital personnel to resolve problem/issues that may not necessarily require the Risk Manager’s intervention.
8.Formulate and type letters and/or memoranda as necessary to accomplish the aforementioned tasks.
9.Accept and process all subpoenas and other requests for Health Information Management. 10.Accept all summonses on behalf of current employees with their permission. As well as assist with having employee complete Request for Representation form and forward to Office of Legal Affairs.
11.Utilizes NYS DOH New York Patient Occurrence Reporting and Tracking System.
12.As required, consult with medical, nursing and other staff involved in treatment to clarify ambiguities and secure documentation of the records and to secure necessary and timely certification and verification.
13.Ensures that compliance manuals are current and that policies and procedures are followed.
Assignment Level B
14. Under direction and with wide latitude for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, directs and/or coordinates the administration aspects of the department. Supervises the preparation and publication of operational manuals and procedures. Minimum Qualifications 1.Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and one (1) year of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment; or
2.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in “1” above; and two(2)years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment; or 3.A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience, in which each year of relevant training and/or experience can be substituted for 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university.
