Patient coordinator Garden City Rehabilitation Garden City, NY 11530 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the medical office, providing exceptional service to patients while managing various administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding, as well as proficiency in handling medical records and billing processes. Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, addressing inquiries and providing information regarding services. Schedule patient appointments efficiently, ensuring optimal use of resources and time. Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and billing information. Process insurance claims and manage medical billing tasks, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding. Handle medical collections and follow up on outstanding balances with patients. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless communication regarding patient care. Assist in maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage patient information effectively. Experience Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and billing processes is essential. Knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) systems is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing medical records and documentation. Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients and healthcare staff.
