Job Summary:

The Patient Flow Administrator (PFA) will provide daily guidance, management, and leadership to the Throughput Nurses, Throughput Operations Center (TOC) Nurse Manager and operations of the Discharge Hospitality Centers. The PFA, in collaboration with the Associate Director of Nursing for Throughput Operations and TOC Nurse Manager, will play a significant role overseeing patient movement and hospital throughput in all areas at and between Upstate University Hospital and Upstate Community Hospital. The PFA will assist in providing leadership and oversight to the Throughput Operations Center in collaboration with the medical director, TOC Nurse Manager, Associate Director of Nursing for Throughput Operations and other key hospital leaders. The PFA will focus on achieving timely, appropriate, and safe patient throughput by ensuring sending and receiving units follow hospital policy and procedure, problem-solving throughput issues in real-time, and leveraging available technology platforms to improve throughput operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered RN (or eligible), Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a minimum of five years nursing experience in an acute care setting to include two years of progressive supervisory/management experience, plus excellent written/oral communication, leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills required. CPR-BLS certification is required by the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or Business Administration preferred. Certification in clinical specialty or leadership preferred. Case Management, Administrative Supervisor, or Nurse Manager experience desired.
