Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Nursing Quality to join our Professional Practice Department. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for advancing nursing quality across the organization by driving performance improvement initiatives, leading data-driven strategies, and collaborating with clinical teams to foster a culture of excellence and accountability. The Director will work closely with nursing leadership, frontline staff, and interdisciplinary stakeholders to ensure adherence to best practices and continuous quality improvement in patient care.

Responsibilities:

Plans, develops, organizes and evaluates performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives in conjunction with nursing leaders for the purpose of improving and maintaining quality and safe care. Reviews, implements, and maintains policies and procedures to ensure provision of high quality of care. Assist in the development of policies and procedures as necessary. Facilitates data collection, reporting, and evaluation of patient safety and satisfaction data in conjunction with nurse leaders and organizations Quality Team. Acts as the administrator for

NDNQI:

Monitor and report nursing-sensitive quality indicators through NDNQI; collaborate with nursing leadership to develop and implement improvement plans based on benchmarking data. Oversee the design and evaluation of structures and processes that promote shared governance and nurse engagement. Provides leadership and support in the identification of improvement opportunities, development of measurement indicators, compilation of results and the presentation of the report. Maintains and assures appropriate liaison between the Professional Practice Department and Nursing Service. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure professional development programming supports clinical excellence, lifelong learning, and role transition. Actively participates, supports, and leads organizational performance improvement initiatives i.e.: LEAPFROG, HCAPHS, Sepsis management Provides guidance and counseling to nurse managers and Administrative Nursing Supervisors to assist them in continually improving all aspects of Patient Care Services. Assists nurse leaders to develop skills and techniques in evaluating the performance of Nursing Department staff members. Evaluates performance and provides input of the evaluation of nursing professional practice. Leads investigations at the unit level of patient safety concerns associated with root cause analysis and patient care issues identified by patients, physicians or members of the health care team. Assures compliance with all local, state and federal laws regarding licensure and certifications of nursing personnel. Represents and actively participates on hospital committees providing feedback and input as it relates to Patient Care Services. Communicates and keeps Nurse Executive apprised of actual or proposed changes that impact Patient Care Services. Partner with NPD staff to assess educational needs and develop programs that enhance clinical knowledge, leadership skills, and compliance with standards of care.

Requirements:

BSN required, Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred. Valid NYS RN License required Demonstrated experience in nursing quality, performance improvement, or clinical leadership roles. Proficiency in MS Excel, data visualization tools, reports and data analysis. In-depth knowledge of nursing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practices. Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
