Position Snapshot:
AIM will be launching a Farmer Serving Farmers program. The Senior Director of the Farmers Supporting Farmers (FSF) Program provides strategic leadership and oversight for AIM’s agricultural mental health and wellness initiatives. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, culturally competent services to farming communities, with a focus on mental health support, resilience-building, and sustainable program development. The Senior Director leads a multidisciplinary team, cultivates partnerships, and drives innovation to meet the evolving needs of rural populations.
Essential Functions:
+ Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of the FSF program, ensuring alignment with AIM’s mission and community needs. + Lead the development of mental health and wellness services tailored to agricultural communities, including counseling, peer support, and outreach. + Supervise FSF staff, including counselors and outreach personnel, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations. + A plan to ensure staff receive ongoing training, especially culturally responsive trainings for rural populations, as well as areas where there is a need for knowledge acquisition. + Develop and manage program budgets, funding proposals, and strategic plans. + Build and maintain relationships with agricultural stakeholders, mental health providers, and community organizations. + Represent AIM and the FSF program at local, regional, and national forums focused on rural health and agriculture. + Collaborate with partners to expand access to mental health services and reduce stigma in farming communities. + Promote the FSF program through public speaking, media engagement, and community events. + Ensure the delivery of trauma-informed, person-centered mental health services in compliance with OMH standards. + Support the development of individualized care plans and group support models.
Education and Experience:
+ Master-level social worker and/or counselor, with well-established supervisory experience. + Demonstrated success in supporting other mental health professionals, including peers. + Trained in Suicide Alertness For Everyone-Tell, Ask, Listen, KeepSafe ( SafeTALK ), Question Persuade Refer (QPR) or other suicide prevention training to identify and connect people with thoughts of suicide to life-affirming help. + FSF staff should be reflective of the population served and responsive to the unique risk and protective factors in rural populations, including stigma around mental health and help-seeking, close-knit neighbors and faith-based communities.
Qualifications:
+ Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills . + Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities . + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data systems, and virtual collaboration tools. + Deep understanding of rural mental health challenges and agricultural culture. + Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends. + Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
+ A combination of sitting at a computer and working in community settings. + Reading, researching, and documentation responsibilities . + Some regional travel is required. + Hybrid/remote position. EOE Statement
