Pittsburgh, PA Job Details Full-time $18.20 – $28.51 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Mid-level Supervising experience Experience with children Child Development 2 years Full Job Description UPMC is hiring a full-time Playroom Supervisor to join their University OB/GYN (UOG) team at Magee Women’s Hospital! The Playroom Supervisor will oversee the UOG Playroom and be responsible for managing the playroom, supervising children, and keeping a safe/clean playroom. You will also need great communication with participants, parents/guardians, and staff. Our goal is to create an environment designed to make children and their families as comfortable as possible and to provide a positive and appropriately stimulating experience for the children. This position will work Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays!

Responsibilities:

Train and supervise volunteers and assistant. Open and close the playroom. To understand the needs of children at different developmental stages and respond appropriately. Greet each child and parent. Plan activities that are appropriate for each child. Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient. Attend in-service trainings when appropriate. Maintain a safe environment for the welfare of the children by keeping the playroom neat, clean and in an orderly fashion. Attend and participates in meetings with Director, Volunteer Services. Advise the Director, Volunteer Services about any issues or concerns having to do with the Playroom. Ensure appropriate and economical use of materials and supplies. Interpersonal skill to effectively communicate with children, parents, staff, and visitors. At times may have to communicate with physicians. Complete statistic records as required. Supervisory skills required to oversee and evaluate work of playroom employees and volunteers. Has a degree in Child Development, Early Childhood or Elementary Education or equivalent experience and/or course work. Minimum of two years working experience with children. Successful demonstration of the completion of the competencies required by the department/unit. This individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department’s policy and procedures.
