Purpose of Job:

The primary purpose of your job position is to oversee all events/activities of the Wellness Center as well as to provide supervision to the Wellness Center team and subcontractors according to established departmental and community policies and procedures, federal, state and local and community regulations and guidelines; and as may be directed by your supervisors. Facilitate diverse wellness programs to increase resident engagement and awareness towards active living.

Leadership:

Administrative Functions:

Develops, implements, and maintains an annual review of policies and procedures for the day-to-day operations of the department. Provides input to policies that are community wide. Always keeps department appearance in presentable manner. Completes all appropriate reports and paperwork as required. Ensures department is in regulatory compliance. Ensure adherence to infection control policies. Volunteers to serve on committees and/or participates when designated. Attends monthly town hall meetings as scheduled.

Human Resources:

Provides effective team schedules and assignments for the department. Assures that team members attend all mandatory in-services. Conducts performance appraisals at 90 days for new team and at least annually thereafter. Hires, orients, and trains team members to perform appropriate duties. Effectively applies work rules to all team members and corrects behavior and actions when necessary. Provides a departmental environment where all safety practices are maintained. Follows new hire procedures to secure high quality team i.e., obtain references, complete paperwork, and submit required documents as mandated by regulatory bodies.

Communications:

Maintains positive communication within the department. Facilitates positive communication inter-departmentally. Attends and actively participates in Manager/Director meetings. Produces written communication that is clear and concise. Maintain confidentiality of resident and White Horse Village business issues.

Budget:

Develops an accurate annual budget for department. Monitors spending to ensure conformance with budget projections. Orders supplies and maintains adequate inventory for proper operation of the department. Allocates resources to implement departmental activities, as appropriate. Orders and maintains all capital equipment. Completes budget variance reports, as appropriate.

Education:

Attends seminars and in-services to maintain and increase professional skills. Provides on-going learning opportunities for the team. Ensures department is compliant with mandatory in-services.

Compliance:

Fosters and assists with setting the tone for a community-wide commitment to compliance. Position Specific Wellness Center Manager – Leadership o Oversee all events/activities of the Wellness Center as well as to provide supervision to the Wellness Center team and subcontractors. o Ensure compliance by all Wellness Center team in maintaining credentials and certifications as required. o Ensure that all Wellness Center subcontractors’ liability insurance policies are valid for the duration of all agreements. o Monitor effectiveness/performance of wellness contractors and recruit additional contractors as needed to maintain/promote diverse offerings/modalities. o Develop and maintain current job descriptions for Wellness team. o Delegate duties to Wellness team as needed. o Stay current on Wellness and Active Aging trends. o Develop and update all departmental policies and procedures. o Develop and maintain a standard orientation for all equipment. o Develop a General Orientation to all areas of Wellness Center. Wellness Center Manager – Resident Services o Develop a protocol for instruction on the standard orientation of all equipment as well as safe and effective independent exercise technique. o Develop and maintain a concise method for measurement and evaluation of the Physical Dimension of Wellness for resident and team members programming. o Coordinate and manage schedules for all Wellness Center activities. o Develop/acquire and provide outcomes measuring and reporting for all Wellness Center activities. o Review documentation by Wellness Center team for completion and proper protocol. o Communicate concerns about changes to physical or mental health status of residents to clinical team and Director of Resident Life as necessary. o Report participant injuries and refer for evaluation by clinical team when necessary. o When medical conditions present a safety risk to a participant’s exercise participation, assist participants in seeking appropriate consultation. o Arrange for service and repair of equipment when necessary. o Knowledge or experience working with Rehabilitation services o Works collaboratively with Mission Enhancement team to create opportunities to best represent WHV. o Ensures professional development and growth opportunities for team members through seminars, training and mentoring. o Answer resident calls and requests promptly. o Update Wellness bulletin boards, library and other literature as needed. o Report all Wellness Center concerns to Director of Resident Life o Maintain a role as a leader in the Senior Exercise Professionals of PA (SEPPA) and participate as fully as possible. o Be an example of Wellness to the residents and team members. o Perform Wellness evaluations and assessments for all participants. o Provide structured exercise in conjunction with Wellness Center team as needed. o Provide direction and support to the Wellness Center team members to ensure structured exercise programs during absences as needed. o Collaborate with Dining Services to provide residents with nutritional information in conjunction with Wellness Center programming. o Be available to answer resident and team member requests. o Maintain facility operations for the Wellness Center. o Activate emergency response according to policies and procedures. o Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids. o Develop and present topics for Health and Wellness seminars and coordinate guest speakers. o Implement & coordinate with Rehabilitation Services and Outpatient a quarterly Health Assessment Clinic. o Coordinate with Outpatient and Rehabilitation Services seamless transition of services between departments to support overall resident wellness. o Collaborate with other disciplines to develop programs that incorporate dimensions of wellness o Oversee the development of Well U curriculum, incorporating dimensions of wellness. o Adopt/utilize technology to enhance systems/current programming, as appropriate. o Perform all other duties as assigned. Compliance Requirements Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Conduct in the performance of duties. Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns. Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to the position. Adheres to the Organization’s Policy and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.

JOB TITLE

Wellness Manager Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the CS Room, Pool MPR and the community. Sits, stands, bends, stoops, lifts, pushes, pulls, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors. Communicates with all team members, visitors and residents. On occasion works beyond normal working hours, evenings, and on weekends and holidays. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs. Maybe subject to falls, cuts, bruises, aggressive residents, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, etc. May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., May be required to work on weekends and holidays. May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired. Is required to be on-call for emergencies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor Degree required Master’s Degree preferred Certification in one of the national accepted certification process 5 – 7 years’ experience Management experience
