The Associate Patient CareCoordinator is responsible for providing patient-oriented servicein a clinical or front office setting; performs a variety ofclerical and administrative duties related to the delivery ofpatient care, including greeting and checking in patients,answering phones, collecting patient co

  • pays and insurancepayments, processing paperwork, and performing other front officeduties as required in a fast

  • oriented clinicalenvironment. This position is per diem. Employees are required towork any shift between the hours of 6:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM as assignedbased on business needs, including the flexibility to workoccasional weekends based on business need.

Our office is locatedat Westmoreland Hospital, 532 West Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg,PA 15601. We offer weeks of paid training. The hours of thetraining will be based on schedule or will be discussed on yourfirst day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Communicatesdirectly with patients and / or families either in person or on thephone to complete the registration process by collecting patientdemographics, health information, and verifying insuranceeligibility / benefits
  • Utilizes computer systems to enter accessor verify patient data in real
  • time ensuring accuracy andcompleteness of information
  • Gathers necessary clinicalinformation and processes referrals, pre
  • certification, pre
  • determinations, and pre
  • authorizes according to insurance planrequirements
  • Verifies insurance coverage, benefits and createsprice estimates, reverifications as needed
  • Collects patient co
  • pays as appropriate and conducts conversations with patients ontheir out
  • of•pocket financial obligations•Identifiesoutstanding balances from patient’s previous visits and attempts tocollect any amount due•Responsible for collecting data directlyfrom patients and referring provider offices to confirm and createscheduled appointments for patient services prior to hospitaldischarge•Responds to patient and caregivers’ inquiries relatedto routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate andrespectful manner•Generates, reviews and analyzes patient datareports and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary•Maintains up•to•date knowledge of specific registrationrequirements for all areas, including but not limited to: MainAdmitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, andRehabilitation units What are the reasons to consider working forUnitedHealth Group?

Required Qualifications:
  • High SchoolDiploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1 years of customer service experience ina hospital, office setting, customer service setting, or phonesupport setting
  • Ability to work any shift between the hours of6:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM as assigned based on business needs, includingthe flexibility to work occasional weekends
  • Must be 18 years ofage or older
  • Access to reliable transportation & valid USdriver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with usingMicrosoft Office products
  • Experience in a Hospital PatientRegistration Department, Physician’s Office, OR any medical setting
  • Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
  • Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Understanding ofinsurance policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform basicmathematics for financial payments
Soft Skills:
  • Stronginterpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
Physicaland Work Environment:
  • Standing for long periods of time (10
  • 12hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone / headset Thesalary range for this role is $16.

00 to $20.43 per hour based onfull-time employment.
