Job Description

Patient care administrator Care Comfort Hospice 3700 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, PA 15668 I. Qualifications Registered Nurse with Associate degree in nursing or a health-related field and four years of supervisor or administrative experience in hospice care or in a health setting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as good community relations. Must have the ability to motivate and work with fellow employees and volunteers. II. Responsibilities The Hospice Administrator (HA) will be responsible for the daily operations of the site hospice team in carrying out the vision, mission, and goals of the organization. The HA works in conjunction with the Executive Director and Governing Body to: Ensure program compliance with legal and regulatory requirements by: o identification of variances and subsequent education of staff o providing input to Policies and Procedures and guidelines o implementation and monitoring the effectiveness of P & P’s Evaluate the program services and personnel by: o ensuring evaluations are ongoing and within policy o applying data management to staff utilization o applying data management to program improvement Establish and maintain effective channels of communication between staff, patients and families, vendors, and other community services. Build cooperative relationships with physicians, hospitals, and nursing facilities and other referral services and promote the business effectively. Assure adequate and proper staffing. Keep personnel current with state-of-the-art clinical information and practices Ensure staff development, including orientation, in-service education, and continuing education, as well as stress management. Direct and supervise staffing performance of their duties including admission, discharge, transfer, and provision of services to clients during all services hours Assure that true interdisciplinary care is provided. Assure that all members of the team receive appropriate support and recognition Coordinate with other sites and management as appropriate to the mission and communication structure. Keep current on local and national issues and trends. Review and monitor staff utilization for comprehensive service and cost effectiveness Ensure adequate space, equipment, and supplies are available. Maintain and uphold the Hospice Code of Ethics Work as a team member always. Understand and practice lines of communication within the system. Practice confidentiality always. Maintain openness to understanding the broader system of the organization and its functioning. Engage in consensus building and alliance formation within the teams. Maintain a positive and honest attitude. Identify limits of own knowledge and skills and seek appropriate assistance. III. Orientation and Training Hospice team members will provide orientation and training, as necessary, to assist the Hospice Administrator in performing the responsibilities listed above. The Governing Body and the Management Team will act as a resource for the integrated services available within the parent organization. Training may be in-house or outside seminars. Evidence of orientation and training will become part of the personnel file. IV. On Call The PCA will be available, as needed, to ensure that adequate coverage is available to patients. A qualified individual is appointed in writing to be available in the absence of the PCA V. Accountability Reports directly to the Executive Director. Works cooperatively with the billing coordinator. Is responsible for all team members within assigned site.
