Job Summary:
The Prior Authorization and Intake Specialist is responsible for managing the intake process for new patients and securing insurance approvals for prescribed home infusion therapies. This position ensures timely and accurate processing of patient information, acts as a liaison among all involved parties, and supports a smooth onboarding experience for patients receiving infusion services.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate new patient intake, including collecting medical records, verifying insurance benefits, and confirming all documentation is complete.
Submit and follow up on prior authorization requests with insurance companies.
Resolve authorization denials and delays by communicating with insurance providers and healthcare teams.
Document all communications and actions in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Act as the central point of contact between patients, healthcare providers, and insurers to resolve any issues.
Identify and suggest improvements to the intake and authorization process for increased efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years in a healthcare setting, preferably in prior authorization, patient intake, or medical billing.
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge:
