Position summary: The laboratory Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring that all activities comply with safety regulations and protocols. This role involves coordinating laboratory activities, managing supplies and equipment, facilitating quality assurance processes, and providing support to clinical and medical staff. The Laboratory Coordinator serves as a key liaison between laboratory personnel, healthcare professionals, and administrative departments. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collaborating with the Practice manager, oversees the daily operations of the laboratory ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols. Coordinate the scheduled laboratory activities including experiment test and maintenance. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for medical and clinical personnel. Conduct regular safety compliance audits and training sessions for laboratory staff. Ensuring proper documentation and logs are being maintained at each site. Participate in agency Risk Management and Quality Improvement Committees. Providing oversite over laboratory inventory, including proper ordering and restocking supplies as needed. Oversee the maintenance and the calibration of laboratory equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition. Assist medical and clinical staff with planning and executing experiments, providing technical supports as needed. Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities including in-house lab results and calibration logs results and inventory logs. Train new laboratory staff on protocols, safety procedures and equipment usage. Supervised laboratory personnel, providing guidance and support in their daily tasks. Ensure proper documentation and organization of laboratory data, including electronic and physical records. Assist in the preparation of records and presentations based on the laboratory findings.
Requirements:
Education:
Associate degree in medical laboratory science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field required.
Experience:
Previous experience in a laboratory setting preferably in a coordination or supervisory role. Prior experience in a supervisory or coordinator role preferred Prior FQHC experience is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Proficient in data management and laboratory software applications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and support a team in a fast-paced environment.
