Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Scheduling/Authorizations (AD-S/A) is responsible for the oversight of both the Scheduling and Authorization departments.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate’s degree in healthcare administration or related field required. May substitute with a high school diploma and 5 (five) years of relevant leadership experience.
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred. Experience Minimum two (2) years specific scheduling and authorization leadership experience in a healthcare setting required
Previous experience in insurance prior authorization processing required.
Previous experience working in customer service required.
Extensive knowledge of patient registration and authorization processes required.
General knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and
ICD-10-CM
coding assignments and their applications to the authorization process. Licensure/Certification/Registration Certified Health Access Associate (CHAA) required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensures accuracy in scheduling and re-schedulingplex patient procedures and appointments in the Scheduling Department.
Responsible for accurate and timely processing of all authorizations ensuring no patient service and/or reimbursement disruption.
Ensuring health plan protocols are followed and that information ismunicated and updated in EMR system.
Have a keen understanding of insurance concepts, and health plan policies and ensure that staff are aware of current health plan policies, requirements, and are trained in all system requirements.
Responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to achieve a high-performance standard, for planning,anizing, and supervising the daily operations of both the Scheduling/Authorization Departments.
Assist the department director when needed.
Prepares reports for administrative use as determined by Director. Participates in making departmental schedules and provides input when preparing probationary and/or annual evaluations.
Responsible for improving business processes and supporting critical business strategies.
Assists director with process redesign, systems design, development, testing, implementation, and on-going support of business applications.
Works collaboratively with Physicians, Service Line Directors, and Ancillary departments.
Provides support to the director while supporting the performance improvement process with a focus on patient, employee, and physician satisfaction, as well as quality and operational efficiency.
Travels to offsite clinics when needed.
Displays core customer service skills.
Must have excellentanizational skills and be detail oriented.
Effectively utilize stronganizational skills.
Consistently display effective verbal and writtenmunication skills. Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
Regularly exercise independent judgement.
Ability to remain calm and professional in all situations required.
Complete other duties as assigned by department leadership.
