MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN OUTPATIENT BEHAVIORAL CLINIC IN COLUMBIA, SC

South Carolina Youth Advocate Program (SCYAP) is seeking a Licensed Child and Adolescent Therapist to provide oversight and clinical supervision to a team of therapists providing assessments and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and their families. Full-time position available in the Columbia, SC office (ColumbiaFamily Services Clinic), and will report to the Senior Director of Community-Based Services or designee.

Expected qualities:
  • Experience working with trauma treatment and a positive attitude and dedication to working with at-risk population (child and family counseling experience preferred)
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent clinical judgment with willingness and desire to work collaboratively with treatment team and provide clinical guidance and supervision to others
  • High energy, motivated individual with strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain current, legible and adequate documentation for client’s chart; assures that all required client documentation submitted timely; monitors and provides support for clinicians under supervision to ensure documentation requirements are met
  • Capacity to work well independently under appropriate supervision, as well as to interact professionally with treatment team, staff, and families Minimum position requirements:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited school in the field of human services with a minimum of three (3)years experience in the area of child/family mental health, counseling or working with youth and familiesand advanced licensure (LPC, LISW-CP, LMFT, Ph.

D., MD, etc.), OR LMSW or LPC-A with a minimum of ten (10) years experience in the area of child/family mental health, counseling or working with youth and families

  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn contractual standards, Medicaid standards, accreditation standards, and program specific policies and procedures
  • Supervisory experience in addition to clinical training/experience preferred
  • Ability to pass appropriate background checks
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with required registration and insurance Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Provide a variety of clinical and treatment services including intake/diagnostic assessment, follow-up/mental health comprehensive assessments, individual, group, and family therapy and crisis intervention
  • Collaborate with the clinical staff and program directors to provide clinical supervision and administrative oversight of clinical staff within program including mental health clinicians and interns, toensure provision of appropriate treatment care for clients, accountability to position expectations, and timely submission of quality clinical documentation
  • Provide direct clinical supervision and review of assessments, treatment plans, and/or service noteswritten and submitted by clinical staff to ensure clinically appropriate assessment, timely submission, and reduction of potential risk/liability
  • Provide follow-up and ongoing professional development to ensure client care results in appropriate service referrals with ongoing communication to stakeholders and referrals sources
  • Liaison with the Utilization Review department to ensure that all therapy authorizations are submitted in a timely manner
  • In collaboration with clinic administrative and clinical staff, liaison with admissions department, SCYAP programs staff, referral sources and clinical staff to assist with service management and communication across stakeholders to ensure continuity of care
  • Be available for after-hours telephone contact for clients in crisis or other mental health clinicians needing clinical guidance and supervision
