The Clinical Evaluation Coordinator for the School of Nursing supervises and assesses student progression in the clinical setting under the guidance of the Director of Simulation and Experiential Learning and the BSN Chair.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively provide guidance in working with nursing students learning to competently perform nursing skills.
Observe students providing patient care in the clinical setting and assess students’ ability to think critically and apply nursing concepts learned in the classroom.
Observe students providing patient care in the clinical setting and assess students’ ability to prioritize nursing interventions.
Participate as an active, engaged, and effective member of the School of Nursing Clinical Instruction team.
Demonstrate competency of nursing skills required of a registered nurse.
Work collaboratively with School of Nursing Director of Simulation and Experiential Learning, Clinical Coordinators, Clinical Instructors, and BSN Chair.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
Present a professional demeanor, flexible approach and positive attitude.
Effectively communicate with students, faculty, and clinical site employees both verbally and in writing.
Ability to observe, demonstrate, and offer appropriate feedback on patient care provided by students in a hospital as part of the clinical learning experience.
Ability to work independently under minimum supervision in accordance with established procedures.
Ability to collaborate with didactic and clinical instructors to optimize the clinical learning experience and development of nursing concepts through interactive care.
Ability to provide appropriate verbal feedback and written documentation of observed student performance and demonstration of required clinical progression indicators.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
The Clinical Evaluation Coordinator must have relevant clinical nursing practice in an acute care setting. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a TN state unencumbered registered nurse license is required, a Master’s in nursing is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Corrective devices may be used to meet physical requirements.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/hospital/ clinical environment.
Normal/corrected vision and hearing required.
Frequent standing and walking required.
Occasionally required to reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds when transporting recruitment materials.
Will require physical effort in climbing stairs.
Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
Position requires the physical risks associated with exposure to sick and injured patients in the hospital setting.
Wearing of mask or other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by hospital policy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Temperature and humidity are controlled and maintained by a closed and regulated HVAC system.
