JOB SUMMARY:
The person in this position is a Clinical Lab Assistant Lead who performs all aspects of specimen preparation for analysis. The person in this position performs advanced procedures under the
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs data entry concerning patient demographics information, copying requisitions for case folders, and imaging. Handling of specialty specimens including assembling specimen folders, printing labels, sorting samples by department, filling out paperwork for add-on testing and sending out samples for reference testing. Receive and process specimens according to department protocols Must perform within the productivity expectations as set forth by current departmental guidelines. Serves as project leader in the development and implementation of training. Assists the Chemistry Supervisor with day-to-day operations and development of laboratory services. Conceptualize, create, and implement effective plans and policies for the non-technical areas of the clinical laboratory including personnel, referral labs, and in-house quality assurance measures. Responsible for maintaining and reviewing pending lists and ensuring fulfillment of referral testing TAT’s. Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries. Assists the Clinical Lab Manager with administrative functions such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory, stocking consumable supplies and restrain costs through effective use of resources. Continuously monitor and evaluate departmental operations and work flow, making changes as needed. Identify personnel with strong work habits and encourage and promote them to a higher knowledge base. Address Client Concerns; investigate and follow-up as needed. Assist Clinical Manager with developing annual evaluations, maintaining scheduling of Clinical Lab staff, and identifying personnel with strong work habits to encourage and promote them to a higher knowledge base. Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry’s best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
Requirements:
EDUCATION & LICENSURE
Bachelors Degree in Biology, Chemistry or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
One year supervisory experience. Minimum of one year of previous health care environment job-related experience is required.
