Job Description:

The Medical Billing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and staff of the Medical Billing and Research Teams, ensuring smooth billing processes, maintaining high standards, and reporting findings to the Medical Billing Manager. This role involves direct personnel management, participation in daily billing functions, report generation, auditing, policy implementation, and staff development/training. Excellent communication skills are essential for successful teamwork, collaboration and information sharing across RCM departments.

Essential Functions:

Provide day-to-day supervision of Medical Billing Specialist and RCM Research teams ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to billing procedures. Demonstrate outstanding work ethic, works cooperatively with all team members and management with a can-do spirit and positive attitude to assist team members with questions or problems. Review, oversee and audit medical billing charges to ensure complete and accurate charge capture in a timely manner. Keeps informed regarding current coding regulations, auditing, professional standards and company/department policies and procedures as it applies to the field of oncology and effectively applies this knowledge. Assist in review of benchmarks, workload distribution, productivity measures and prepare reports for manager noting outliers and any areas for performance improvement. Monitor and report volume of work to ensure the team is current, assigning coverage and assisting as necessary, and reporting any outstanding issues to manager. Perform daily medical billing duties including posting and/or reviewing charges, reviewing medical documentation, writing and reviewing claim edits, working Unity tasks and completing practice management “status” audit reviews. Assist in the development and maintenance of team policy and procedure manuals related to coding and billing guidelines to ensure compliance and maximize revenue. Conduct audits on performance and provide ongoing training to assure complete understanding of job duties to improve billing accuracy and minimize denials. Lead/assist with team meetings and prepare minutes for distribution to team and management. Submit tickets to internal IT departments and external vendors for system update requirements such as ICD10, CPT and/or HCPCS codes into the practice management system along with logic improvement requests and any system down issues. Assist with employee time requests, enter benefit time, time edits and approve employee time for bi-weekly payroll and manage overtime, as applicable. Manage employee relations issues appropriately as they arise and escalate to manager as necessary. Complete special reports or projects as assigned by Manager or Director. Essential Competencies:

Attendance is an essential job requirement to maintain productivity Detailed knowledge of billing, HCPCS, CPT and ICD codes Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships with physicians, patients, clinical and administrative staff, and the public. Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and other colleagues, demonstrating initiative, mature judgment, and customer service orientation. Must possess high degree of professionalism and adaptability. Strong analytical & organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet assigned deadlines Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies and procedures. Ability to successfully plan, implement and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to recognize, evaluate and solve problems using critical thinking skills. High level of discretion to work with confidential information and maintain compliance. Strong knowledge of software applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook), and other medical information systems.

Education & Experience:

Minimum of three years’ experience with Charge Entry, Billing or Coding in Oncology/Hematology revenue cycle required. Prior experience within a physician practice business office preferred. Prior experience in a lead/supervisory role is preferred. Experience with Centricity, G4 Unlimited Systems, Onco EMR a plus. #LI-HD1 #LI-REMOTE
