The DME Coordinator is responsible for supporting our Durable Medical Equipment in TOA clinics and associated surgery centers. The DME Coordinator works closely with our DME Technicians, MA’s, patients, vendors, and Clinic Managers. TOA is a fast-paced environment that provides the right candidate excellent opportunities to help patients and build a career in the DME area. Specifically, they will: Ensure adequate inventory of DME at the TOA locations, first by attesting to the existing inventory, and then by delivering any needed or requested equipment Travel to various TOA clinics daily, spending approximately two hours a day traveling between clinics Provide important support to our Orthpaedic Technicians in clinics through direct patient interaction and fitting or applying orthopaedic products Fill in for DME service provision in clinics as needed Provide support to Orthopaedic technicians and site staff regarding questions about DME process, billing, and codes Provide pre-certification support to determine available insurance coverage for DME products and appliances at various clinics Act as a liaison with DME vendors regarding products and changes. Participate in regular planning sessions with the management to ensure adequate coverage for all TOA facilities Assist with Inventory management, to include scanning, collating and balancing inventory on a regular basis as required Provide in-service training to sites and ASCs on various aspects of

DME Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this role will have demonstrated excellence in supporting a DME or clinical support function.

Specific requirements and qualifications include:

Bachelors or Associates Degree preferred, and high school diploma required Experience with therapy, athletic training or medical assisting is a plus At least one year of successful DME experience is required; including direct patient interaction fitting or applying orthopaedic products is preferred. This experience is preferably through an orthopaedic clinic, but could include an independent DME provider or hospital setting. Experience as an exercise physiologist or cast technician may suffice Exceptional customer service and presence. The DME Coordinator will be interacting with TOA providers and patients, and must have the ability to interact with patients professionally, compassionately, and effectively. Our DME Coordinator must have fundamental knowledge of insurance coverage and processes, with the demonstrated ability to check for, seek, and obtain precertifications, for DME and High Dollar Drug coverage The successful candidate will be able to balance sometimes competing demands on their time; patient care

  • DME inventory control and management
