Full Job Description Optometric Technician:

Located in historic Downtown South Pittsburg, TN, Spectacles Family EyeCare is a thriving and growing optometry practice. We are seeking a full-time, energetic, and friendly individual for the Optometric Technician role. Applicants must be prepared to work in a fast-paced medical office setting and be eager to learn. General Duties:

The primary role is assisting the Optometrist in patient care to include conducting pre-testing or special testing, intaking patient historical information, and familiarizing patients throughout the eye care and clinical experience. Essential Functions Greet all office guests in a professional and friendly manner. Gather preliminary data through patient pretest, such as documenting chief complaints, gathering patient’s medical history, measuring visual acuity, eye movement, interocular pressure (IOP), retinal photos, visual fields, and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Educate the patient throughout the prescreening process about what each machine is testing for and provide instructions to provide accurate test results. Accurately and efficiently document the results of pretesting into the current EHR program. Educate and instruct the patient on insertion, removal, and proper care of contact lenses. Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment. Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality. Assist the Optometrist as needed during examinations. Assisting in other areas of the office is necessary, such as answering phones, verifying insurance, checking in patients, scanning charts, maintaining a clean office, checking patients in and out.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED. Adaptable and flexible with the ability to multitask. Self-motivated and exceptional attention to detail. Good communication skills and the desire to work with others and help patients. Willingness to learn. Must present a professional appearance. Positive Personality. Being a team player is essential and able to work in a fast-paced office. Ability to stand and move about an office environment.
