The Associate MarketClinical Director will directly supervise, performance manage andtrain Clinical Directors within in his/her assigned market. Theincumbent in this role is accountable for center performanceobjectives, P&L, growth, and culture. In addition to beingaccountable for the overall clinical outcomes of his/her assignedmarket, they will have a portion of their time allocated to directpatient care as a PCP and/or other clinical duties. The remainderof their time allocated to leadership responsibilities includingClinical Director performance, engagement, building a strongclinical-operations synergy and culture. The allocation of time isdependent on several factors including PCP capacity, market needs,size of centers, patient membership and Regional Presidentdirection.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Directsaccountability for clinical outcomes and day-to-day management ofMedical Directors in multiple centers within assigned market, withregular presence in the centers under direct management, and underthe supervision of the Regional President. Ensures successfulclinical operations and meeting/exceeding plan market earnings.

Manages, mentors and coaches Medical Directors in his/her assignedmarket to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes. Oversees andfacilitates talent development of the PCPs, NPs, and MedicalDirectors in his/her centers including, but not limited to leadingfacilitated practice (physician shadowing/coaching), conducting1:1s with direct reports, executing leadership development plansand performance management. Cultivates a center-level physicianculture that is fully aligned with and delivering on the ChenMedcore model, core values & behaviors and service standards. AssistsClinical COE in training of new practitioners within the assignedcenters. Participates in recruiting and interviewing PCP andspecialist candidates. Partners with Clinical COE and TalentAcquisition to support clinical talent lifecycle to accelerateClinical talent growth, including hiring of PCPs, NPs, and MedicalDirectors, managing, and mentoring physicians, role modelingexemplary clinical leadership. Establishes and supports thedevelopment and cultivation of successful relationships withpayers, specialists, the community, and hospitals, among others,and driving a social media presence locally, as part of the coreresponsibilities for the role Monitors and supports overall marketculture, responding with urgency to workplace concerns.

Reviews/approves center-level referrals and provides back-up formarket referral and delegated utilization authorizations. Otherduties as assigned and modified at Regional President’s discretion,which may include: Assists Regional President with market qualityand performance improvement initiatives. Oversees monthly scorecardreviews and in conjunction with Clinical Leadership, for deliveryof quarterly clinical metric analysis. Provides training to otherChenMed entities, as needed. Develops deep relationships withproviders and key stakeholders in the market. Uses theunderstanding of the local market dynamics to drive clinicalinitiatives. Builds clinical credibility and trust to deepenrelationships. Assists with implementation of cost reduction andmarket clinical strategies. Delivers outstanding clinical outcomesand service to patient panel as a PCP (20%). Performs other dutiesas assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

Technical knowledge and skills:

Excellentclinical skills. Knowledge and experience in a managed caredelivery system. Knowledge of clinical outcomes and qualityimprovement processes. Experience of population risk management orcomplex chronic disease care management. History of being a naturalteacher to fellow Physicians.

Other skills and abilities:

Goodanalytical skills. Ability to build relationships with externalorganizations. Conflict management and resolution skills. Familiarwith, if not proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products,including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Computer skills:

Comfortable with the electronic medical record (EMR) and facilewith keyboarding. Ability to travel locally, regionally andnationally up to 30% of the time. Spoken and written fluency inEnglish This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA

MD or DO in Internal Medicine,Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar specialty required A minimumof 2 years’ clinical experience required; 3 years preferred.

Strongly prefer one (1) years’ previous experience as MedicalDirector or equivalent with a Medicare or Medicaid patientpopulation Board eligibility is required. Board Certified inInternal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar ispreferred, but hires may have other sub-specialty training andboard certification. Current, active license to practice medicinein State of employment. High performing physician with a proventrack record of clinical leadership experience. Must have completedall internal physician training and have attained partnership.

Experience with population risk management or complex chronicdisease care management. Experience working with interdisciplinaryteams in quality improvement and/or medical/healthcare leadershipactivities preferred. Preferred to be an existing high performingPCP partner and/or Medical Director within the ChenMed core model,with a proven ability to manage a panel of >400 patients withoutstanding clinical, customer service and cost outcomes. Preferredto have been with the organization >2 years, be a recognizedleader amongst peers, and can lead teams in quality and performanceimprovement initiatives. If specialty, has demonstrated leadershipwithin his/her specialty and delivered superior outcomes, with aproven ability to deliver primary care in our model.
