What you will do Apprises Vice President of all activities, pertinent changes in internal/external markets, threats, and opportunities in a timely and anticipatory manner and presents action plans for immediate implementation/approval. Develops policies, procedures and standards related to performance requirements for assigned staff.

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates of unit goals, objectives, policies/procedures, and standards of care related to professional/patient care practices and patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patient needs. Provides clinical expertise and management support to the staff in the delivery of patient care in compliance with defined standards. Ensures compliance with applicable policies, standards, hospital bylaws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates an effective working relationship with the medical staff, health care team, patients, family members, and visitors. Ensures prompt and effective problem resolution.
  • Establishes, analyzes and communicates appropriate quality standards for designated services and programs. Investigates and tracks incident reports. Follows up on patient/physician complaints.
  • Initiates/attends cross-functional teams to resolve issues and for performance improvement as required. Represents the department through involvement on interdepartmental and interdisciplinary committees or task forces. Plans, implements and manages unit activities to effectively and efficiently provide quality nursing and patient care services.
  • Manages day-to-day operations/problem solving and implements new or revised programs and/or services.
  • Responsible for ensuring cases are completed in a manner that is accurate, quality and patient centered and timely. Schedules, assigns and distributes duties among assigned employees. Collaborates with the Administrative staff and PCCs to provide appropriate staff placement based on productivity standards required to meet the clinical needs of the patients.
  • Ensures that staff works in collaboration with other disciplines, physicians, health care team members, and external healthcare organizations for hospitalization needs according to the patient’s plan of care.
  • Manages the financial resources of assigned areas of responsibility. Monitors operating revenues and expenses, administer established cost control program, monitors budget variances and reports significant variances to the Director.
  • Makes changes and recommendations as needed to enhance/improve services and efficiency with in the assigned unit.

Ensures accurate charge capture for services provided and effectively allocates resources to meet unit needs. Monitors the documentation of required information in patient records according to hospital policies and procedures and nursing standards of practice. Implements and monitors system measurements to ensure delivery of quality patient care.

  • Makes rounds and provides managerial presence to ensure planned or required care is being provided to patients.
  • Ensures compliance with joint commission standards for nursing care, hospital policies and procedures, compliance/performance improvement, safety, infection control, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coaches staff in the resolution of problems, use of resources and the use of the nursing process.
  • Ensures resource materials are available on the unit.
  • Updates and maintains a written unit specific PI plan.
  • Collects data and reports to unit PI results with a written plan.
  • Ensures that staff understands and is involved with implementation and evaluation of unit based PI plan.
  • Provides leadership in the development and evaluation of standards of care.
  • Utilizes manual and automated information systems to improve efficiency and effect productivity.

Works collaboratively with nursing/medical/hospital staff, patients and external agencies in a customer responsive/professional manner in compliance with Regional One standards to promote patient/customer satisfaction. Develops, coordinates, and ensure implementation of services; daily oversight of operations, including financial functions; and maintain accountability of all unit functions. Prepares and maintains required reports, records and files for administrative and operational purposes.

  • Utilizes computer and information systems to enter, format data and generates statistics, computations, tables, charts and graphs.
  • Aggregates and analyzes population-specific data to assist with the identification of potential problems, patterns, and trends,
  • Reports trends in data which reflect system issues, establishes priorities and recommends improvement activities to Director and/or other responsible parties. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Required Master’s Degree Master’s Degree in Nursing Preferred RN
  • Registered Nurse
  • State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current license to work in TN Upon Hire Required and CPR
  • Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire Required or BCLS
  • Basic Life Support BLS Upon Hire Required or ACLS Upon Hire Required CNOR
  • Certified Operating Room Nurse within 1 Year Required Minimum 4 years experience progressive clinical/nursing management experience, preferably within an acute care setting. Required At least 2 years experience Trauma Operating Room Required Physical Demands Standing
